Chateauneuf-du-Pape Red "The Miocene" Red 2021 - Alain Jaume 75cl
The 2022 Châteauneuf-du-Pape red "Le Miocène" is distinguished by a varied terroir, combining clayey-stony soils covered with rolled pebbles and deeper brown clayey-sandy soils, exclusively located in the northern part of the appellation. The vines, cultivated organically, allow this wine to reveal its power and aromatic complexity each year.
The harvest is carried out manually, followed by destemming and crushing. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats with regular punching down and vatting for 18 to 20 days. Aging takes place in vats for the Grenaches and in 2 to 3 year old oak barrels for the Syrah and Mourvèdre.
Visually, the wine has an opaque ruby color. On the nose, it reveals aromas of ripe red fruits, such as kirsch and blackberry, accompanied by spicy notes. On the palate, it is rich, full, and ample, with a beautiful length accentuated by a salinity brought by silky tannins. This Châteauneuf-du-Pape embodies a style with intense and subtle characters, fully expressing the specificities of its terroir.
To best enjoy its qualities, it is recommended to drink it between 2 and 10 years after the vintage, and even up to 15 years for powerful vintages. It is recommended to decant young vintages and serve it at a temperature of 16°C.
