Château Cazal Viel “Old Vines” 2023 - Laurent Miquel 75cl

Located in the upper reaches of the Languedoc region, on one of the most beautiful slopes of the Saint-Chinian appellation, Château Cazal Viel has been run by the Miquel family for eight generations. This characterful wine comes from old Syrah, Grenache, and Mourvèdre vines, with naturally low yields, planted in the clay-limestone soils typical of the region.

The winemaking process is traditional, carried out plot by plot in stainless steel tanks after a long maceration. Approximately 45% of the wine is then aged for 12 months in French oak barrels, adding complexity and elegance to the whole.

On tasting, the garnet color with purplish highlights precedes an expressive and spicy nose, dominated by aromas of black pepper, clove, and ripe black fruit. On the palate, the wine is round and generous, with a velvety texture, beautiful balance, and silky tannins. The finish reveals subtle oak notes and a lovely freshness.

An authentic Saint-Chinian, powerful and harmonious, perfect to accompany grilled meats, cassoulet or a platter of mature cheeses.
