Château Franc le Maine 2016 - Vignobles Bardet 75cl
Acquired in 2008 by Sylvie and Philippe Bardet, Château Franc Le Maine is located southeast of Saint-Laurent des Combes. Founded in the 15th century and nicknamed "The Sleeping Beauty," this Saint-Émilion Grand Cru appellation vineyard has been revitalized through drainage work and ecosystem stimulation. The estate covers 11.5 hectares, with soils composed of sand over gravel, sand, or clayey sand.
The vineyard, with an average age of 51 years, is cultivated according to agroecological practices, certified High Environmental Value (HVE) level 3 and ISO 14001. Soil maintenance is based on total and permanent natural grassing. The wine blend is mainly made up of Merlot, supplemented by Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Château Franc Le Maine is distinguished by its dark ruby to purple color and its fresh, dynamic, and expressive nose. On the palate, it seduces with its elegance, density, balance, and persistent length. Vinification, carried out in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, is based on in-depth microbiological research, limiting the use of sulfites. Maceration is carried out by infusion with total immersion of the marc, for gentle extraction without pumps. Aging is carried out in new barrels and in barrels previously used for wine, bringing a subtle aromatic complexity.
This wine, designed for long-term storage of more than 15 years, is ideally enjoyed at a temperature of 16 to 18°C, revealing all its finesse and balance.
